Some photos of one of our renaissance lutes, recently completed.
This particular instrument is a 8 course lute in G (60cm, A=440) in ash and walnut with ebony detailing. The outline of the body is after Hieber Venice c. 1580, in the Musee Instrumental, Brussels (no. 1561).
This lute was commissioned by Alex McCartney, professional lutenist and theorbo player. Copies of this lute have been made for other customers.
Alex reviews his 8 course lute: "Sensitive to the touch with a warm and full sound, I cannot recommend highly enough the instruments made by Luke Emmet at Orlando Lutes. These quality instruments will impress professionals and amateurs alike."
